noun
: the suggestion for men to simply seek mental health counseling as a response to men’s poorer mental health outcomes and suicide rates relative to women is a type of controlled opposition to men’s rights progression.
When men do kill themselves, it is because of systemic sexism that can be fought and dissolved. Men often commit suicide due to feeling worthless, losing access to children following divorce, false rape allegations and the ensuing social alienation, etc. (All issues that feminism contributes to). The solution to men’s poorer mental health outcomes is to fight misandry, not to talk to a therapist.
When women kill themselves, society seeks to attack the underlying reason why at the source. No one tells women to seek therapy. The reason that people (especially women) tell men to seek therapy is because it is a cheap, easy way to sound pro-male without actually working to fixing the issues that harm men’s mental health, because the reality is that fixing men’s issues takes away privileges from women. If you remove men’s gender role of provider, women suddenly have to make equal financial contributions in relationships. If you make gender-neutral rape laws and gender-neutral domestic violence policies, women will now be held accountable when they perpetrate these crimes. If you jail women who lie about rape or domestic violence, women lose a piece of the social leverage they hold over men, etc.
When you hear anyone promoting “men’s mental health” you should ask yourself what stance they likely have on men’s underlying issues, which will tell you everything.
