expression
: a slur that black women use to shame black men who prefer light skins
society values men based on the type of women we can attract. this is why the word virgin is only used as an insult when directed at men. black women do not gravitate to light skins as much because when it comes to long-term relationships, they are more interested in what ways men can serve them rather than what we look like to begin with
black women feel entitled to men’s resources and created this word to shame black men with money and status for not sharing it with them. hence why conversations about colorism usually occur within the context of celebrities and other successful black men like doctors. they don’t care what average black men prefer
they are also appealing to “the black community” as an emotional tactic to make black men feel like they have an obligation to date them. white, hispanic, and asian women can’t really do that so they have to use the race-neutral version of this word: unrealistic beauty standards
its another example of misandry backfiring onto women
