noun

: women’s disgust of men who don’t fit into the gender roles that they created for them; an attack on men’s self-esteem

This term reflects women’s use of deselection to pressure men into their gender roles. Women have been doing this forever, they have just now created a word for it.

This is the pressure that causes men’s gender roles to exist, not toxic masculinity.

British women used their ick to pressure men to go die in war so they didn’t have to. It wasn’t “other men”. If “other men” were a bigger pressure to men than women are, militaries would tell “other men” to shame un-uniformed men on the street. That doesn’t happen.
This happens everywhere.

Notice how it is mentioned that women had influence despite not being in formal positions of power. At the end of the day, positions of political power are just high-status jobs and women don’t need to work for a living like men do. Women already have status, women already have power. For women, chasing positions of power is a waste of time.
